New systems BALTECH let perform vibration diagnostics of electric motors easily and quickly.
Construction parts of electric motors.
An electric motor consists of 4 main components. Our detailed posters show different parts of a typical electric motor.
Stator (stationary part, usually it is a housing)
Rotor (a moving part)
Two bearing cups or end shields. Usually they support a rotor and bearings as build-up construction.
The system for vibration diagnostics BALTECH VP-3470 + the program BALTECH Expert allow conducting the whole expert vibration diagnostics of electric motors and bearings. Electric motors can have many mechanical faults such as unbalance, misalignment, looseness, excentricity and bearing faults. Each mechanical problem has its special vibration signals. Vibration sensors can detect the most of the electric mechanical faults. For laser alignment of electric motors we advice to use the systems BALTECH SA-4300 series.
Electric defects appear because of failures in an electromagnetic field. These defects have specific vibration signals. Differential electromagnetic forces having an effect on a stator or rotor generate vibration. In case of right identification of vibration measurement parameters you can detect the vibration symptoms.
Other useful elements, parameters and technologies for condition monitoring of electric motors are :

Temperature (is checked with the pyrometers BALTECH TL-0208C and the thermal imaging camera BALTECH TR-01100-Zero)
Magnetic flow (we recommend to use a magnet ring)
Ultra sound
Infrared thermography (infrared cameras BALTECH TR-01500)
Power-off testing
If you suspect any electrical faults, you have to conduct vibration spectrum monitoring radially and by power-off. If a signal of double power frequency (2xFL) vanishes, there is a high probability of electrical defects. In motors, where the rotor position is different from the magnetic center, vibration level will be axially higher.
